Frequently Asked Questions

Does my child need to be there for the consultation?

Not always but it depends on your child’s age. For older children and teens, it’s more likely that I’ll want to speak with them directly.

For the first consultation, I usually prefer to meet with just the parent. This gives us a chance to talk openly, and parents can often give a clear picture of the situation, including important details like birth, medical, and family history. It also allows you to share any concerns without your child overhearing anything that might upset them. If I feel it would be helpful to meet your child, I’ll arrange a short, no cost session outside of school hours. The same approach applies to follow up appointments.

Do you treat adults too?

Yes, I do. While my main focus is on children’s health, I’m fully qualified to treat adults as well. Homeopathy works on the same principles for people of all ages.

In fact, once I start working with a child, it can often be helpful to support other family members too. Sometimes treating the whole family brings the best results.

Are there any side effects with homeopathy?

Homeopathic remedies are generally very gentle and don’t cause side effects in the way conventional medicines can.

However, sometimes the body may have a natural healing response as it begins to clear out what it no longer needs. This might show up as a mild fever, increased discharges, diarrhoea, or a skin flare-up. These reactions are usually short-lived and can be a sign that your body is starting to heal and rebalance.

I always aim to treat as gently as possible to keep any reactions to a minimum. But if anything feels too uncomfortable or you're unsure about a response, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

What is Homeobotanical or HomeoHerbal Therapy?

This treatment combines the benefits of both herbalism and homeopathy. Originally developed in New Zealand in 1983, they are carefully selected blends of liquid herbal extracts that are then diluted and dynamised to give them a new type of healing energy.

They are gentle acting, easy to take and can be used for opening drainage channels, improving nutrition and stimulating healing to bring the body back into balance. They work synergistically with other treatments including homeopathy. The remedies come in the form of liquid drops to be taken daily sublingually.

Do I need a diagnosis before I can start homeopathic treatment?

No - in homeopathy, we focus on your unique set of symptoms rather than a formal diagnosis. The aim is to find a remedy that closely matches how you're feeling, physically, emotionally, and mentally.

A diagnosis can sometimes be helpful, but it's not essential for starting treatment.

If you're experiencing symptoms that might point to a more serious health issue, it's always a good idea to speak to a medical professional first, just to be on the safe side.

Can I use homeopathy while taking medication?

Yes, you can. Homeopathy works on an energetic level, so it won’t interfere with any medications you're taking, since it doesn’t cause direct chemical changes in the body. That said, some medications might reduce how well a homeopathic remedy works.

Over time, many people find they don’t need their medications as much once they start homeopathic treatment. However, any changes to medication should always be made in consultation with your doctor.

How do I store the remedies?

Because homeopathic remedies are energetic in their nature they should be stored:

  • away from direct sunlight

  • away from electrical appliances

  • away from sources of radiation such as mobile phones, Wi-Fi routers and microwaves

  • away from strong smells such as cooking smells, perfumes or air fresheners

How do I take or give my child the remedies?

  • One pillule should be kept under the tongue until it dissolves.

  • If the remedy is provided as drops, put the prescribed number of drops onto the tongue being careful not to let the dropper touch the mouth.

  • Take the remedy in a clean mouth - at least 15 minutes before or after food.

  • Mint can antidote the remedies, so at least 30 minutes away from brushing teeth.

  • Try not to touch the pillules, but tip one into the lid and then into the mouth.  Or, if they're provided in an envelope, take one out with a clean spoon and then tip into the mouth.
